Consulting

When an organization grows, the way people work together has to grow with it. Roles that made sense with eight people get blurry at thirty, and managers who were promoted for being good at the work are suddenly responsible for people.

Since 2022, I have worked with nonprofit, youth-serving, and for-profit organizations in the middle of this kind of growth. I use the same tools I use in my research, sitting down with people and watching how work actually gets done, to understand what is going on before creating solutions.

My consulting work falls into three areas:

Operations and Process Improvement

I look at how work moves through an organization, where things break down, and who has the final say on which decisions. Then I work with leaders to redraw roles and workflows, to help bring clarity to process. The goal is for the changes to hold after I step away.

Manager and Leader Development

Many managers are promoted for doing their own jobs well and then left to figure out the rest. I design and deliver supervisor training, including cohort programs for emerging and high-potential leaders. The focus is practical: how to set direction and how to help the people on your team grow and do well.

Team Relationships and Workplace Conflict

When a team is stuck in conflict, the cause is often structural, like unclear roles or two people working from different expectations about how the job should be done. My research on multilingual workplaces shapes how I approach this. Language, culture and professional identity both affect how people read each other, and what matters most can shift within a single conversation. I help teams name what is happening and agree on how they will work together day to day.

How I Work

My work usually starts with listening. I spend time with the people doing the work before recommending anything, because every organizational challenge is multidimensional. How we work together can range from a single training session to multi-year advisory partnerships.

If your organization is growing and the way people work together isn't keeping up, I am glad to talk
